This auction is for a late 19th-early 20th century Pairpoint silverplated covered serving dish, sometimes referred to as "holloware."  The Pairpoint Manufacturing Company was founded in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1880, and, in 1894, it merged with the Mount Washington Glass Company to form "The Pairpoint Corporation."  After this merger, Pairpoint focused on glass lamps and other products, with some silverplate manufacturing continuing up until about 1938.  This brackets the era of this serving dish to sometime in the late 19th or early 20th centuries.  Google states that it was likely made between 1880 and 1894.  The lid is unmarked, but the dish or bowl piece says, "Pairpoint P E.P.N.S. 04240 1/2 WM Mounts 10" (with the "P" enclosed in a diamond shape).  Per Google, this means that it is "electroplated nickel silver" of the "04240 1/2" pattern and with "white metal (possibly silverplated pewter) mounts" and the "10" referring to the length of the dish (which is indeed 10 inches).  The item has some tiny scratches and stains but I don't see any cracks, chips, or dents.  As stated, it is 10" long, about 7" wide and about 2 5/8" tall.  It weighs about 1.5 lbs.  Although 100 or more years old, it could still be used to serve food today, though it is so elegant that it would be better as a decorative item!
Please note:  I am doing my best to describe this item, but please study the pictures carefully and I will happily send more photos if desired.  Please ask any questions before bidding as I am not now accepting any returns.  Please pay within seven days of the end of the auction.  If you buy more than one item, please go ahead and pay for each item separately and when I ship I will combine the items and refund you the difference in the shipping costs.  I am shipping only within the U.S.  And please email me before leaving negative feedback and I will do my best to resolve any problems.  Thanks for looking and have a great day!
