Ludwig Deutsch (1855–1935) was an Austrian-born Orientalist painter who settled in Paris and became celebrated for his meticulously detailed depictions of Middle Eastern life. Born in Vienna to a prominent Jewish family, Deutsch studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts before establishing himself in Paris around 1878. Beginning in 1885, he undertook several journeys to Egypt, which profoundly influenced his artistic direction. Rather than painting exclusively en plein air, Deutsch worked primarily in his Paris studio, employing photographs and meticulous sketches to achieve archaeological precision in his renderings of architectural details and cultural scenes. His prolific output encompasses paintings such as A Nubian Guard, At the Door of the Mosque, Calling the Faithful, In the Madrasa, and Morning Prayers, which showcase his fascination with Islamic religious practices, palace life, and daily customs. Naturalized as a French citizen in 1919, Deutsch's works remain highly sought by collectors for their documentary realism and luminous treatment of Egyptian scenes.

The front is an acrylic safety plexi-glass so it doesn't break or crack in transit. The back is papered and fixed with a sawtooth hanger.
Float Framed Canvas is a narrow black wooden frame around a stretched canvas. There is a small gap between the canvas and frame making the canvas appear to float. It is of course secured firmly at the back. Arrives in a box ready to hang.
