This listing is for an antique Russian brass samovar. I did not polish it or do any other cleaning other than to wipe it down to remove any dust from being in storage. It is free of dents other than one small one as seen in the last photo. It's markings specifically identifying the manufacturer as the Shemarin Brothers (Товарищество Торговаго Дома Братьев LLeMapnHbIx) based in Tula, Russia.
The markings on the base indicate the following: The Cvrillic text translates to "Trading House of the Shemarin Brothers" The Shemarin factory was one of the most prominent producers in Tula, the historic center of Russian metalworking, and operated until 1919. The inscription Loctabunkn IBopa Ero BennuecTBa" (Suppliers to the Court of His Majesty) or similar royal references, often accompanied by the the circular stamps represent medals awarded to the manufacturer at various industrial and trade exhibitions. These were proudly displayed as a mark of quality and prestige.
The presence of the Russian Imperial Double-Headed Eagle (often seen in the center of such marks) indicates it was produced during the Imperial era, typically between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Some similar marks include specific years of exhibitions, such as 1898 or 1905, which helps narrow down the production period to the turn of the century. The samovar will be carefully wrapped and packed for safe shipping.
NOTE: If you would like to purchase the samovar for the starting bid price of $350.00 prior to the end of the auction and BEFORE a bid has been placed, please let me know. I will then end the auction, relist it at a Buy It Now price of $350.00, and send you the new listing number so that you can make an immediate purchase.
