Antique Supertone Bay State “Dixie Wonder” banjo, early 20th century (approximately circa 1900–1915). This is a vintage open-back style banjo with traditional early construction and decorative details.

The banjo features a wooden rim with bracket tension hooks around the edge and traditional dowel stick neck construction. A Supertone interior label is present inside the rim.

The peghead has decorative shaping and a star inlay. The instrument currently has four tuning pegs installed on the peghead. Strings are missing, and the original string configuration is unknown.

The head appears to be a fiber or paper-type head rather than traditional skin. The head and hardware show wear consistent with age.

There is visible age-related cracking in the peghead area and general cosmetic wear from age and use. Please review photos carefully as they are part of the description.

This instrument is being sold as a vintage piece in as-found condition and may require restringing, adjustment, repair, or restoration depending on the buyer’s intended use.

Vintage banjos like this are often purchased by collectors, restorers, folk and old-time music enthusiasts, or used as display pieces.
