Kraken Chilli Plug Plant
Kraken is a superhot Capsicum chinense hybrid developed from Bhut Jolokia and chocolate Scorpion lines. The result is a chilli grown for extreme heat and the deep, smoky character typical of dark chinense varieties.
Heat is extremely high and firmly in superhot territory. Exact Scoville levels vary with growing conditions, but this hybrid consistently sits among the hottest chinense types. The heat builds strongly and lingers, making it a chilli that requires careful handling.
Pods are large, irregular and heavily textured, with the thick, folded skin typical of chocolate superhots. Fruits ripen to a deep chocolate brown and are often fat and crumpled in appearance.
Flavour is rich and intense with the smoky depth often found in dark chinense chillies. Alongside the heat there is a subtle sweetness that works well in hot sauces, marinades and other preparations where a strong chilli presence is needed.
Plants are vigorous and productive when grown in warm conditions. They perform best under cover in the UK climate and produce striking dark pods once established.
