A Worcester porcelain teapot and cover painted in underglaze blue with The Bird in a Ring pattern, circa 1760-70. This uncommon pattern shows a chinoiserie garden scene with a caged bird set alongside a low table with a plant pot and flowering plants. The teapot is fairly heavily potted and of globular form with a loop handle and painted cross-hatched borders.
The base of the teapot is marked with the Worcester open crescent mark.

Dimensions: width at maximum from spout tip to handle edge is approximately 19.5 cm/7.68”; height to top of floral knop 15 cm/5.91”.
Condition: good display condition, with no sign of restoration but some slight damage to the teapot cover, which has a loss to the finial - this is glazed over and dates from the time of manufacture - and to the flange, with a flat chip to the underside of the cover rim, this visible as a small loss to the upper rim edge. There are very small nibbles to the top of the spout.
