This model is a replica of Fender's flagship MBS series, a 1960s Jazz Bass.
It was crafted by Jason Smith.
Jason Smith is a legendary master craftsman who has created instruments for numerous artists, including Flea, Steve Harris, and Reggie Hamilton.
Manufactured in 2013.
The body is constructed of alder and the neck is maple, a classic wood construction.
It has a relic lacquer finish that gives it a worn, long-lasting look.
The fingerboard is slab-laminated rosewood.
The certificate states it's a 1961 model, but the controls have three knobs instead of stacked knobs.
The pickups are original.
The sound, with its rich, solid bass and sharp, beautiful treble, is truly classic.
The powerful low-end adds powerful support to the ensemble.
This is an instrument that every bassist should try at least once in their lifetime.
We refretted the guitar, repaired the fingerboard, and replaced the nut.
The truss rod is a little stiff, but we've confirmed it can move about 90 degrees.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paint show some paint peeling, dents, and scratches, but due to the relic treatment, it's impossible to tell if these were added later.
The electrical system is in good condition.
Copper foil shielding has been applied.
