This is a restoration of the RCA 44-BX (-H, -J, -K, and -L) ribbon microphone manual. The dash version is usually found on a sticker inside the microphone as part of the MI (Master Index) number. These versions are the last (post-WWII) versions of the microphone produced. This 44 manual is the most comprehensive with 14 pages, none blank. The -L portion is an insert.

The time-consuming restoration process involves carefully scanning the original manual into Adobe Photoshop and spending hours processing each page to produce a manual that looks better-than-new. All photos are stripped out and processed separately. All tears, marks, stains, etc. are removed from the original manual, even printing defects are corrected. The text is brought back to original sharpness and detail, as are all of the illustrations.

Our production standards are high: 

  • Each manual is individually printed in the USA. 
  • We use heavy photo paper for the glossy front and back covers, and
  • 32 lb. laser paper for the inside black & white pages and
  • 37lb imaging paper for any page with color
  • If the original RCA Manual had a blank page, so will ours!
  • 10-mil thick clear plastic sheets protect the front & back covers.
  • Everything is then bound with a plastic ring comb, so that the manual will open flat and be very durable.

This is a highly professional product that takes a lot of time to prepare, but it is worth it! eBay customer feedback has been very positive regarding quality. So, if you own one of these wonderful RCA microphones, you deserve a quality manual to go with it.

This manual contains a photo of the microphone, and gives detailed descriptions, specifications, frequency response, and directivity curves. There is also a parts list and parts location diagram, as well as detailed wiring diagrams. This information is invaluable in using vintage RCA microphones to best effect. Most of the original manuals have been lost. Now you can have something even better!
