Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS - Washed Cherry Sunburst -
Gibson Custom Shop is arguably the pinnacle of Gibson guitars.
Not only do they use traditional techniques, such as selecting high-quality wood and using hide glue to attach the wood, but they also beautifully combine these techniques with modern technology to produce high-quality reissue models. For example, they measure the actual instrument using 3D laser scanning to recreate the original top curve and neck shape of the reissue model.
From Gibson Custom Shop comes this incredibly popular 1959 Les Paul Standard reissue in the still-popular Washed Cherry Sunburst color, finished in a VOS finish.
This particular example features a beautiful maple top with fine, evenly spaced grain.
The reddish color on the outer periphery has been slightly toned down, creating a high-quality look that exudes a bright, eye-catching atmosphere.
The specifications of the time have been reproduced down to the smallest details, such as the neck grip, which is slightly thinner than models made before 1958.
The basic specifications follow the 60th anniversary model produced in 2019, and as mentioned above, it is made with a realistic top curve created by 3D laser scanning the actual instrument and glued in place.
The capacitors are vintage-like Bumblebee, CTS pots that recreate an exquisite vintage curve, and the pickups are unpotted Custombucker, so there are no compromises in the electrical system either.
The pickups are two Custombucker Alnico, highly acclaimed as a reproduction of P.A.F. pickups.
In keeping with the P.A.F. specifications of the time, the pickups are unpotted, without the wax-soaked potting that was usually used to combat noise and feedback, resulting in brilliant high-end output despite being a humbucker.
