The EWI-226 Aquabase is our most water-resistant basecoat adhesive, specifically developed for areas where there is a high risk of water ingress. Durable and vapour permeable, it delivers reliable protection in both internal and external applications where moisture resistance is essential.
Aquabase is ideal for fixing XPS (polystyrene) insulation boards onto external substrates and is highly recommended for use below the DPC (Damp Proof Course) when rendering or insulating. Its superior water resistance also makes it suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms, and areas around showers and baths. In addition, it can be used as a basecoat for pools, provided it is covered with tiles fixed using a waterproof adhesive and grout.
The product serves two main purposes: an adhesive used to fix XPS insulation below DPC level, a reinforcement basecoat onto XPS, and for internally reinforcing walls in bathrooms and wet rooms
