Technical:

Core hardness: 52 HRC (minimizes bending, nicking, or dishing).

Surface: Nitrided to 74 HRC (or ~950 HV minimum) with a case depth of ~0.001–0.007" — this provides wear resistance, reduces galling/seizing, and prevents flashing or chipping on the pin tip.

Heads are hot-forged for uniform grain flow and higher tensile strength.
