BSC embarked on a project to source and purchase West Coast rust free 1960s Porsches around 10 years ago as we struggled to find any European examples that were anywhere as great condition as these cars. This beauty was one of our first purchases and is still in fabulous condition.What can you say about 1960’s Porsches? They are legendary cars and will only become more iconic and valuable as time goes on.This stunning 912 has lived in the west coast of USA most of its life and has, therefore, survived the ravages of rust that affects European versions.We sourced her along with others in 2014 in the USA and sold her to a very discerning owner who has maintained her to the highest standards with a couple of enthusiastic owners sinceAlthough the 912 does not have a 6 cylinder engine it still has the legendary engine well known from the previous 356 and is a better balanced driving car in many ways to an early 911.This Tangerine Red from new example was Karman built with the improved handling and interior also having the advantage of a 5 speed gearbox. She has has never been fully stripped down for full restoration this car has received milder improvements.This means that the body panels are fitting as Stuttgart intended rather than the uneven panel fit that you can get from most early Porsche restorations. It is notoriously difficult to replicate factory standards and build quality.She has been maintained on a yearly basis and enjoyed a gearbox rebuild and new Blockley tyres last yearThis is not the average imported 912 but one of the best available anywhere and becoming very difficult to find at well under half the price of the equivalent 911 with the only difference being 2 cylinders more.On the road you cannot help but enjoy the lively and alive nature of the early Porsches, the 912 is so well balanced. The 912 is definitely the bargain of the early Porsches and very likely to catch up the 911, whose investment record over the past few years speaks for itself.
