Here is the steps to connect the S pen –

1. Insert the S Pen into its slot on the dedicated slot on your Samsung device. The S Pen charges automatically when docked. It is advisable to charge it for at least 10 minutes.

To connect the S Pen, (if it is not sync/connected automatically)

1. Enable Bluetooth.

5. More options (three dots) >

6. Reset S Pen. After these steps, the S Pen should be detected. Test its functionality by taking a picture or using an Air action. If the issue persists, unpair and re-pair the S Pen via Bluetooth or restart your device. If these steps don't help, let me know and I'll arrange an exchange.
