"The Rio Grande Southern Story" is Josie Moore Crum's folksy history of this famous narrow gauge railroad in southwest Colorado. She has gathered together everything she could find about this road. She did have some inside information, as her husband was John Crum, a long-time conductor for the RGS. So it is a history of the everyday happenings on this small line which reflects the lives and times of an area growing into the modern day. There are lots of photos showing the various parts of the RGS in older times and more modern (it was abandoned in 1951).
This 533-page, 7" x 10" hardcover book was published in 1957 by Railroadiana, Inc. [A note: much of the content was later published as "The Rio Grande Southern Railroad" in 1961 and later.] The book is in very good condition with no damage - no dog-eared pages, no markings and no jammed corners. The dust jacket is in very good condition with no tears or creases and some minor spine chipping (see Photo #14) and is protected by a plastic cover. The photos are of this very book. This book will be packed and shipped in our bulletproof manner. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad for their restoration and maintenance projects.
