Your body has two types of sweat glands: Eccrine and Apocrine. Eccrine glands secrete water and salt, while Apocrine glands produce oils and proteins. These proteins can cause an unpleasant odor when broken down by bacteria. In most animals, these oils and proteins create their unique scent, but in humans, this property has been lost.
