Dan Allen Deegan (American, 1948-1999)
Dan Deegan was a Seattle, Washington-based painter known for his coastal watercolors, particularly Northwest-themed seascapes featuring ships and rugged coasts at La' Push along the north coast of WA. A well known Seattleite, watercolor guru, ex-marine, and Vietnam veteran, Dan Deegan was a hardcore, old-school type mentor and teacher to fellow Northwest artists. Like many Vietnam veterans--particularly helicopter pilots--exposed to Agent Orange, Dan’s career was cut short by his untimely death before the age of 50 caused by cancer.
Deegan's seascape paintings of La Push, at the mouth of the Quillayute River on the west coast of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, became his signature style and are collected by individuals and institutions alike.
