Antique German Lead Toy Soldiers: Collection

This collection comprises thirty-four antique German-made lead toy soldiers. Each figure is meticulously hand-painted, representing various forms and historical periods, with a particular emphasis on foot soldiers. All pieces were acquired directly in Germany by Dr. Lewis Buckley Stillwell of Lakewood, New Jersey, a noted pioneer in the field of electrical engineering, during his European travels between 1906 and 1908. The collection remains in good condition.

This appears to be a vintage painted metal toy soldier in the style of a Landsknecht, a European mercenary soldier of the Renaissance period. The figure carries a yellow flag featuring a black double-headed eagle, likely representing the Holy Roman Empire.
