A handsome, information-dense Victorian popular science volume covering natural science and related fields, including zoology, comparative anatomy/physiology, and ethnology (period treatment). Illustrated throughout with numerous in-text engravings and diagrams, plus full-page plates (see photos)—including striking natural history imagery and period ethnology plates (with period terminology).

Binding: period-style pebbled leather over pebbled cloth boards; raised bands; gilt spine lettering.

Exterior shows mild wear—rubbing/scuffing and light skinning  to spine and leather surfaces. Interior generally quite clean and readable with light age-toning and occasional scattered spotting/foxing. See photos. VG
