Postcard Antique 1910s 4th District Agricultural School Monticello Arkansas UAM A&M

This very early view shows a stately building on the new campus. The school opened in 1910. In 1939 it was renamed Arkansas Agricultural and Mechanical College, then in 1971 it was renamed Arkansas A&M when it became part of the University of Arkansas system.

Postmarked March of ? year (1910s) in Florence, Ark. and addressed to Miss Fay Kirkland, 1022 College St., Little Rock, Arkansas. The written message mentions a storm that blew down several houses and killed some stock (animals). Sounds like severe weather of some sort, straight line winds or a tornado.
