An early 19th century figural dog lidded unglazed stoneware cottage container.
The cylindrical body is moulded to resemble a log cabin or Gamekeeper's Cottage, featuring a planked door and hanging game birds + rabbits in high relief. The lid is topped with a reclining hunting dog resting amongst its spoils.
Unable to find another example but is likely to be English. I wonder whether it is a one-off folk art piece.
Displays well with a repair to the lid (view final photo) but in good overall condition with light wear.
Height: 14 cm - Max diameter: 14 cm - 1350g
Suitable for use as a tobacco jar, storage pot, or even as a dogs cinerary urn.
