This is a vintage Eugene Savage art piece dating back to the 1940s . 22 1/2” wide by 14” tall. The piece depicts a festival of the sea theme and is featured in a bamboo frame, adding to its unique and authentic charm. The frame has wear and is missing the very top piece of bamboo. The bamboo is not wrapped all around the frame. These are all pictured. This piece is vibrant and fun depicting a festive event catching fish and celebrating! This midcentury framed Hawaiian print was commissioned by the Matson Navigation Company in 1938 to produce murals for their new ships, but the ships were used in WWII. completed in 1940. The pictures were used to create menu covers between in the late 40’s to mis 50’s. With its cultural significance and historical value, this artwork would make a valuable addition to any collection focusing on Hawaiian art or vintage decor.
