Description

Scarce and highly collectible original first printing Ian Gillan Band promotional poster issued by Island Records/Toshiba EMI in Japan in 1977 to promote the release of the Clean Air Turbulence album – the band’s second studio album, produced by the band themselves and originally released on 15th April, 1977 on Island Records. At this point, besides the leader, the band consisted of Colin Towns (keyboards/flutes), John Gustafson (bass), Ray Fenwick (guitars) and Mark Nausea (drums). The album was originally mixed at Rockfield Studios in Wales in July/August/September 1976,  but Ian Gillan became dissatisfied with the final mixes of the album and this delayed its eventual release. What eventually became the album Clear Air Turbulence was remixed at Kingsway Recorders in London before release. In 1997 the original mix was released by Angel Air Records under the title The Rockfield Mixes and represents a "cleaner" version of the album. It also includes an extra track which didn't make it to the original release. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 51.3 x 72.5 cm (approx. 20.2" by 28.5" inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition, ready to frame.
