This is an elegant, pre-owned Japanese kyūsu teapot, a traditional style known for its side handle design, which is a key feature for brewing Japanese green teas like sencha. The teapot features a beautiful and intricate hand-painted blue-and-white floral or tendril pattern on a light ceramic body, a classic style known as sometsuke.

The side handle, or yokode, allows for a comfortable and controlled one-handed pour, and the teapot may include a built-in strainer inside the spout for loose-leaf tea. The ceramic material is valued for its neutral properties that do not interfere with the delicate flavors of the tea.
