In addition to its mainstay stainless steel construction, immensely wide 5z–30kHz frequency range, and robust 140dB SPL, the M30 G2 boasts numerous improvements over its predecessor. These include reduced phantom power consumption, reduced 1kHz sensitivity, a more compact form factor, and new accessories. The M30 G2's omnidirectional polar pattern renders it particularly useful for room acoustic measurements, though it can also be used for live sound, recording studios, hi-fi home theaters, and even scientific research. Additionally, each M30 G2 comes with its own calibration chart for handy reference. Reduced phantom power consumption: the M30 G2's +48V phantom power consumption is now 7.2 mA, down from the first generation's 10 mA. This extends battery runtime for transmitters and enhances compatibility with specific audio interfaces in large multi-mic setups.
Reduced 1kHz sensitivity: reduced to -40 dBV/Pa (10 mV/Pa) with a tolerance of +/- 2dB for enhanced compatibility with audio interfaces that cannot handle input signal levels above 10 dBV.
Streamlined form factor: The new M30 G2 is ~1.5 inches shorter than the first generation, making it easier to place, requiring less storage space, and resulting in lower weight.
Included accessories: every M30 G2 also comes with its own carrying case, OMW2 windscreen, and MC1 microphone clip for greater safety and flexibility.
