Extremely rare Soundwave Fidelity Corp. Point Source 4.0 tower speakers designed by Jim Gala of Gala Sound and manufactured by Vero Research Corp. and Revel Audio in the United States.  They were very expensive at a $3,500.00 price tag in the mid 1990's and not marketed nationally.  The original owner was a serious audiophile and extremely knowledgable regarding audio equipment.  The Point Source systems V-Shape, 5 sided cabinet holds a patent and were designed to provide even coverage in the full front hemisphere (180° of sound), not just in a narrow angle directed toward the listener like conventional speakers. This is a direct result of the extreme narrowness of the front of the V-shaped bipole/dipole five sided triangular ported point source design.  They have Morel drivers with FOUR 6.5" woofers and TWO tweeters.  They are also supplied with a rubber port plug to allow for a sealed enclosure sound.  The mounting arrangement packs the drivers in the closest possible space, providing a coincident and coherent point source that provides optimum, even coverage in the front hemisphere of the system.  As a result, the effective width of the two bass/midrange drivers is only slightly wider than one unit. Jim Gala created a new variation of the D'Appolito configuration (a vertical array formed by a tweeter flanked by two larger drivers), resulting in symmetrical, even, vertical coverage.  Stereo imaging and tonal accuracy is increased by reducing high-frequency beaming and minimizing reradiated sound from adjacent cabinet surfaces. Any reradiation that does occur is directed off to the side and away from the listener, and thus is less audible due to this innovative design. An additional top mounted tweeter is used to improve power response at high frequencies.  Jim described his mission with creating the Point Source speaker system as incorporating the seamless sound of the highest quality two-way designs, the acoustic output and power handling of three-way designs, and a radiation pattern superior to both.  The build quality is off the charts and their performance is memorable.  We give these speakers our highest recommendation, placing them among our personal favorites we have ever tested.  We will not be heartbroken if they stick around for a long time.  I have no specs. and information as information is very scarce.  The 4.0 was the top of the line model the 3.0 model was the model just below the 4.0.  3.0 specs. were available as a 5 OHM speaker with 50-300 WPC power handling capabilities   The dimensions are 44" H X 14" W X 19.5" D they are heavy speakers perhaps 85-90 LBS and in excellent cosmetic condition with all original drivers.  Local pickup or personal delivery is highly recommended.
