Original vintage Soviet made experimental Army Hot Climate uniform peaked cap. Design shadows the Navy tropical climate cap. Made in circa 1970's, new never worn condition, see photos. Marked size 62 or US XL. The cap was never adopted by the Army and was not mass produced. Some sources say this type of cap was worn by the Soviet military advisers in Mozambique. The Army ultimately adopted the well known from the Afghanistan war panama cap for its hot climate uniform. Very rare piece, first time I come across one in 20+ years of dealing in Soviet militaria.
