Beat the Clock
Original hand-painted double-sided 'Beat the Clock' fairground game. Prizes include Doll, Shopping Bag, 10 Cigs, Towels, Chocs, Pillow Cases, Tea Set, Teddy Bear, Shopping Bag, Sweets, Glass Dish, Shopping Bag & Jack Pot [2 Lamp Shades!?] Evidence of corrections to some prizes [keeping up with inflation!]. Not sure of age but would guess early to mid 20th century.
Appears to be made of wood but has very smooth plastic type finish, possibly very thick varnish as has thick gloopy varnish or similar to edges (please see images.) Painted prize 'windows' have shiny foil type finish. Measures 56 cm across and 1cm deep. Suspended by original chain which can be undone. Extra holes are possible evidence of chain position being moved. Some age-related wear here & there, particularly to edges. Weighs 2100 grams.
