This is a very rare original Civil War era printed/hand painted Escutcheon from an estate. This escutcheon was made for 1st Lieutenant Mark Tomlinson of the 2nd & 10th Connecticut Infantry. Impressive war record! This piece may have been trimmed down to fit this frame years ago, it seems a bit cramped- it could use some minor restoration and re-framing. This is an unusually nice piece!!
