A rare Chinese Qing hardwood brush pot / bitong of cylindrical form finely carved with reticulated sections depicting two 3-clawed dragons on each band chasing the flaming pearl of knowledge.

Alike to some bronze openwork examples however I have been unable to find another wooden piece like this. I think it may date to the 18th century.

In great overall condition with some light discolouration to wood.
