Two (2) full, unused and unstruck 1960's vintage matchbooks in near mint condition from the famous Soccoro's Mexican Foods restaurant that used to be on the southwest corner of Foothill Boulevard (Route 66) and Archibald Avenue in old town Cucamonga, California. One of the matchbooks is a front-strike while the other one is a rear-strike matchbook. This fine old restaurant was Cora's only location and her homemade Mexican food, especially the huevos rancheros, was legendary. If I remember right, she also served the best hamburger in town, "The Cucamonga Burger". Cora eventually closed this small cafe' and she and her husband, Joe, opened the brand new, larger and fancier restaurant and cantina at 10276 Foothill Boulevard in, what is now, Rancho Cucamonga, just west of Haven Avenue. It was a very nice place but not quite the same intimate atmosphere as the original Soccoro's. I think the new location was open for over twenty years and I had heard they wanted to retire so they sold the restaurant. It's been closed for quite a few years now. The Cantina Urbana Kalaveras Restaurant and is there now. I still miss Soccoro's.

The rare 20 matches front-strike matchbook was manufactured by the Monarch Match Company in San Jose, California. The rear-strike 20 match matchbook was manufactured by Superior CHGO / Monarch, also in San Jose, California.
