Here is an authentic LED ZEPPELIN ticket from Saturday January 11th, 1969 at the Fillmore West, San Francisco.

This was roughly their 10th appearance in the US, so very early in their career.  In their very short lived humble beginning opening up for Country Joe.  They had just finished up their 1st album which was only released a few days later.  A few months on and they were headlining their own tour with Jethro Tull and Savoy Brown as opening acts.  Honestly, I don't know of any other Zep ticket (or stub) where they are not the headliner except for a few festivals.   This was very early!

This ticket measures roughly 2 1/2" x 4 1/2".  It is in great condition with light wear and the white has slightly discolored.

This ticket was used for a very short time in the lobby from the purchase at the box office and handed back at the entrance.   This ticket originally came from Bill Graham's archives where it was stored for decades.  He kept thousands of items, some that he would re-purpose, especially the tickets.  Since many acts would add shows during the year, he would just rubber stamp a new date on the already used tickets that he kept.

FILLMORE WEST

This was from the period in the late 60's and 70's when Bill Graham owned and operated the Fillmore and Winterland venues in SF.  He decided to have his own promotional posters designed to promote the concerts.  First, he would choose an artist to draw and print a poster customized for each individual show.  The tickets were just a reduced facsimile of the posters and then typically color-coded to indicate multiple night engagements.  Back then, the Fillmore West and Winterland were rather special venues that constantly held extended engagements by the then current and popular performers.  Just about every well known band played there except for a few more established bands like The Beatles and Rolling Stones.  This was probably due to being located in SF, which became a major focal point for psychedelic music and counterculture in general.  San Francisco was the ultimate city for rock concerts and Bill was both a promoter and owner of the venues where they could play.  So that he could reconcile sales each night, patrons purchased tickets at the venue box office and handed them right back over at the door, thus most ending up in the archive in great condition.  Today the original Fillmore in SF still operates with Live Nation having been leasing it and it is also expanding the Fillmore 'brand' by naming other venues it owns or leases around the country in cities such as Miami, Phili, Denver, Detroit, DC & NYC.
