This is a Very Good Copy of this book in red cloth with gilt title lettering to spine.No dust-jacket.There are a couple of small tears to the cloth at head and tail of spine.With one former owner's inscription to the front endpaper.Illustrated with 5 maps and plans.A comprehensive work by Tupling who lived and worked in the Rossendale valley for most of his life and wrote this study of the region and it's economy mostly on agriculture and Industry and of the importance to the area of the Cotton Industry around Bacup and Haslingdon.It covers a time period from the Middle Ages to the Nineteenth century.A very difficult book to obtain in it's original format.Binding is firm with no hinge weakness,slight foxing to the endpapers and a little spotted to the text block edges.8vo (xxiv) 274pp First Edition [1927]
