• Serves as an intermediate handling carrier for Union Pacific, moving traffic from other railroads like the San Luis Central Railroad (SLC). 
• Handles commodities like grain, potatoes, and fertilizer. 
• The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad, a heritage railway, was previously a subsidiary of the San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad.
