Charming and pretty antique silver and pearlised
white guilloche enamel Arts and Crafts pendant by Charles Horner. Of circular
form, the lower half is solid and is decorated with an attractive garland of
cabbage roses and leaves. The upper half is open work, with three vertical bars
with a central collar-set baroque pearl, which is reflected with two seed pearls
dangling from silver chains en tremblant at the base of the disc. The pendant is
suspended a small chain terminating in a bale which is probably not original-
it was likely to have been another small, enamelled detail.
The piece is stamped on the reverse with his
maker’s mark, the desirable Chester Assay Office stamp and the date letter for
1914. Diameter 2.4cms, total length from bale to pearl drops, 5.7cms. Weight
3.6g.
