ABOUT THE LEATHER: This is a dark blue sheepskin leather full hide, similar in color to classic BIC® pen ink. Each hide averages 6 to 7 square feet and features a smooth grain with a medium-soft temper, making it suitable for a variety of projects that require a flexible yet lightly structured leather. The rich, deep blue tone offers a clean, modern look—and under certain lighting, the color may appear to shift between blue and black, adding a subtle visual depth to your finished piece. Ideal for crafting accessories, inlays, small goods, or accent work where a bold, saturated color is desired.

LEATHER BASICS 101 and what you should know. (Newbies to the leather and crafting).

• Square Footage: is based on usable space across the hide. For example, a hide with 10 square feet of usable space does not mean it consists of ten perfect square pieces you can cut. Leather hides have natural shapes and edges, so the actual cutting area may vary depending on your project’s pattern layout.

• Full Grain: Outer most layer of the skin. Can have scars, blemishes, bug bits, barbwire scratches and visible branding. 

• Top Grain (Also known as Corrected Grain Leather: Light removal of the top skin removing blemishes, scars, bug bits and will have low visibility of cattle branding. Still contains the outer most fibers for durability.  

• Vegetable Tanned: Organic materials used to dye the hide.

• Chrome Tanned: Most popular tanning process using Chromium dyes with a wider variety of colors. Longer lasting color when exposed to direct sunlight, for example Automotive seats.
