A magnificent vintage original transparent watercolor and ink wildlife painting by Eva Marie Sorensen Snow (May 7, 1922 - October 4, 2009). Signed lower right, "King of the Mountain - Eva Marie Snow '84-" and again on the reverse on the gallery card of the Wilderness West Studio, Wilkenburg, Arizona. A herd of 5 Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep command the artwork amidst a background of jagged mountains and pale blue sky. The sight area of the painting measures 17" x 22 3/4" and it is 29 1/2" x 35 1/2" in the original wood frame. The painting is in excellent original condition with no evidence of repairs under black light. It is fully guaranteed to be a genuine work by the artist and is amongst the largest and finest known pieces by her.
Eva Marie Snow was a well known California wildlife and western genre artist, and a resident of Escondido, California for 40 years. She married Kenneth Farrington Snow in 1958 who was a highly decorated WWII hero; having flown 50 missions over Europe in a B-24 Liberator bomber. He further distinguished himself following his retirement from the Army by dedicating his life to charitable causes including the Kiwanis Club and The Boy Scouts.
