Glyn Valley Tramway GVT Original Horse Drawn Van Narrow Gauge in high quality 3D Resin for 4mm scale / 9mm track - OO9 HOe

From Brooks 3D Models (.com) Unfortunately on eBay I’m now forced to use their “Simple” (i.e. stupid) delivery system, so can’t combine postage anymore on here.

Please check all the photos, and read the text below to know what you are receiving. There are no instructions with the kit, so refer to notes below !

These are the original small vans from the horse-drawn era of the Glyn Valley Tramway (GVT). Built around the same time as the GVT Slate Wagons they survived into the steam hauled era. These are small vans similar in size to FR quarryman’s coaches.

There is a quick video GVT HDV Rotation

The van was designed and developed using original photos and drawings and extra help from The New Glyn Valley Tramway

The van can be powered using the Tomytec TM-TR02 Chassis see below.

Max Dimensions: height from rail top: 29mm, width: 20mm, length (ex couplings): 39mm

Parts, supplied UNPAINTED:
1 x Body/Chassis with detailed axle boxes
1 x Roof, normally pre-attached, clips at sides
2 x Brake Gear, normally attached inside van
2 x Brake Levers (1 spare) , normally attached inside van
2 x Coupling sets - fixed loop + double-link close-couplings
1 x Pair of Kato solid metal wheels/axles, normally pre-fitted to the chassis

Photos show all the parts supplied, along with some painted ones – note the grey one has the Tomytec motorised chassis fitted.

COUPLINGS: The wagons have an NEM socket, so you can fit your own types, but my OO9 hook and fixed loop couplings are supplied, just apply gentle sideways pressure to snap off.

WHEELS: If removing/replacing wheel-sets, do this very carefully, using pliers to hold the axles, and only apply gentle pressure to the axle boxes. The 3D resin is not as flexible or forgiving as injection moulded plastic.

ROOF: The roof has small clip fitting above the doors, to hold in place without glueing. Like any plastic roof, it may still be susceptible to long term warping, if not lightly (PVA) glued.

MOTORISED CHASSIS: The Tomytec TM-TR02 Chassis can be used to make a powered van, this can be used to push unpowered locos, or to assist smaller ones. The chassis needs to be stripped down a bit - TM-TR02 Stripping - Updated If the chassis is fitted, then the brake gear needs to be omitted.

BRAKE GEAR: These have small orientation marks, and are fitteds both sides, if you are not motorising.

Please see the website for more details and note on handling, painting etc

Due to tolerances/variations in the printing process, the couplings may be slightly loose, or rather tight. Loose will just require some glue or packing, if tight, ensure all the sprues/bumps are fully removed (a fingernail usually does the trick), you can also lubricate with an HB pencil (as the resin is naturally rough), but some might require gentle filing/sanding to ensure a good fit. Use super glue or PVA - solvent glues do not work on 3D resins.

The NEM style pockets and couplings are a little delicate, so take care, they will not stand up to repeated insertion and removal.

WEIGHTING: The metal wheel-sets give the wagons a reasonable amount of weight. You can of course add weight as the load, but better to add a small lead strip under the chassis, between the axles, to give a low centre of gravity.

CAREFUL: All 3D models can be a little delicate, so don't drop them on the floor ! Also, I recommend any work be done with a file/sandpaper or min-drill rather than trying to cut, as this is gentler. I cannot be held responsible for breakage during handling, but if they are damaged in the post, then please provide photos including packaging. Most breakage can normally be fixed with a spot of super-glue or PVA.

The parts are printed in high-resolution resin, I generally print in white, although this doesn’t photograph well, it paints very well (colour you receive may vary). All prints have been cleaned and cured thoroughly, but as with all 3D prints, there may be small blemishes to tidy up.

STOCK: I normally dispatch orders Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Lastly, I am always interested in feedback (check the eBay feedback for how pleased people are with the models), both on this model, and suggestions for what to work on next.
