For anyone thinking, "what the heck is a LaserDisc? "
well...
A LaserDisc is an old type of home video format that was popular in the 1980s and early 1990s, before DVDs and streaming existed. It looks like a giant CD or DVD—about the size of a vinyl record (12 inches or 30 cm in diameter)—but it was used to play movies and other video content.
Here's how it worked:
Movies were stored on the disc using laser technology, which is where the name comes from.
You needed a special LaserDisc player connected to your TV to watch them.
Unlike VHS tapes (which were common at the time), LaserDiscs had much better picture and sound quality—almost like early versions of DVDs.
However, they were big, expensive, and sometimes you had to flip the disc over halfway through the movie, like a record.
They were mostly used by movie collectors and people who wanted top-quality video before DVDs came out. Eventually, LaserDiscs were replaced by DVDs in the late 1990s because DVDs were smaller, cheaper, and easier to use.
So in short:
A LaserDisc was like a big, shiny movie disc that came before DVDs, used mainly by film enthusiasts for better quality.
