The rumpless gene (Rp) and the ear-tufted gene (Et) in Araucanas are both partially lethal. If both parents pass the rumpless gene, a lot of embryos do not survive. If both parents pass the tufted gene, it will be the same due to the Et gene. If only one parent passes the rumpless gene, some chicks will have tails, and some will not. Similarly, if only one parent passes the tufted gene, some chicks will hatch without ear tufts, some with ear tufts. These are simply normal breeding peculiarities of Araucanas.

When they sell chicks, they can select them based on their visible traits, but with eggs, this is not possible.
