Vintage Danish NORDISK SOLAR Nord-Lys Yellow Pendant Lamp Svend Middelboe 1960
I am not a dealer but someone with health issues wanting to empty my cupboards. I only sell items that I would be happy to receive myself. I'm at an age where I am rehoming most of the items I have collected over the years for other people to enjoy. Most are used, but in a good condition for their age, while some others are brand new and they have been stored in a display unit for years in their original packing.
This listing is for an Authentic, Vintage, preowned and in used condition Original and rare in colour to find, Danish hanging pendant lamp designed by Svend Middelboe for Nordisk Solar Company in the 1960s. The model is called "Nord-Lys" and means Northern Lights in Danish. The Nord-Lys pendant is entirely made out of one piece of moulded hard plastic. They were made in all the pop-art colours of the rainbow but to our opinion the yellow was one of the best. The Nord-Lys design is very similar to the smaller Minisol pendant light by the same company of which the design was attributed to a K. Kewo.
In this listing I am pleased to offer an authentic 1960s and extremely rare yellow version of the Nord-Lys pendant light designed by Svend Middelboe for the Danish Nordisk Solar company. A beautiful vintage classic Space Age Danish design from the 1960s for people who love tasteful design. Due to its special construction with the slats, a very nice light effect is created. This hanging lamp is made of hard ABS plastic (no more than 100w bulb should be used) and has a beautiful space yellow colour. This pendant is NOT a reproduction or a copy it is the original 1960s, it is marked on its inside as it should be for a 1960s authentic Nord-Lys pendant. We bought this pendant lamp in Copenhagen back in the 1960s. I have tried to my best to capture the marking which is present on its inside. It was decorating my house all these years, but having moved houses there is no room for it. Thus it is offered on here for somebody else to enjoy and look after it. The listing is for the pendant only, NO wire or any electrical fittings are included with the purchase of this pendant. It would however, look great if you choose to install it with a new black cord and fittings.
The lamp is marked on the inside towards the top with the Nordisk Solar logo and the model number 41060. Original and authentic Nord-Lys Pendant stamped in their inside (indicating that has been manufactured in 1960s), are very rare to find and they sold in excess of £600.
Condition: This Space Yellow Pendant is still in an extremely good vintage condition for its age and use. There are a few minor/normal traces of wear and slight marks from its age and of course due to its use. It is offered in a preowned and used condition. There are no cracks or been broken and restored, but it shows traces of use. No electric cord or any electric fittings come with it, the listing is for the ceiling hanging pendant or canopy or lamb shade (or how would you like to refer to it) ONLY as pictured.
