PAUL EMILE PISSARRO (B.1884 - 1972): Paul Emile, Camille Pissarro's youngest son, was born in Eragny in 1884. He was brought up in the artistic environment of the family home there and, encouraged by his father, began drawing at an early age. Camille Pissarro was very good friends with Claude Monet who would also become Paul's teacher and close friend, particularly after Camille's death in 1903. In 1967, Paul Emile Pissarro had his first One-Man show in the United States at Wally Findlay Galleries, which led to wide recognition and success in this Country, far in excess of that of his brothers, or even his father during his lifetime. The last of the first-generation Pissarros, Paul Emile died in 1972, and, today his work often rivals his father's in popularity with collectors and museums worldwide.
