The 1933 Pedley-Ryan Colorado dollar is a "So-Called
Dollar” a type of non-official silver disc created by Pedley-Ryan &
Co. in Denver, Colorado, to promote investment in silver during the Great
Depression. These discs were designed to look like a standard US silver
dollar and were sold to small investors as a way to speculate on the rising
price of silver. They were redeemable at Pedley-Ryan at the prevailing
market price of silver.
