1979 RAWLINGS OFFICIAL ALL-STAR GAME 50TH ANNIVERSARY BASEBALL
New in manufacturer's cardboard shipper. w/ custom plastic display stand.
In recognition of the 50th All-Star Game, Major League Baseball commissioned the Rawlings Company to create for the first time a special commemorative baseball to be used in All-Star Game play.
(The National League, behind Lee Mazzilli's pinch home run in the 8th inning and bases-loaded walk in the 9th, edged the American League, 7-6, for its eighth consecutive All-Star Game victory. The Pirates Dave Parker, who recorded two assists during the game--in the 7th and 8th innings--was named the game MVP.)
Original made-in-Haiti ball features Commissioner Bowie Kuhn's signature and the 50th All-Star Game logo.
Unused ball w/ minimal to moderate toning/staining of leather, as depicted in above photos.
Note: Only original 1979 All-Star commemorative baseballs have "Haiti" stamped on the sweet spot. Balls without this mark--or manufactured in another country--are reproductions.
