A rare retractable gilt spectacle chain with beautiful enamel work. The chain is wound into the box and would have had a clasp on the end to connect to spectacles.

The pin is attached to the reverse; engraving on the reverse of the box reads: PATENT / NO. / 30402 / AUTOLD / REG'D / GILT.
