Description: Designed in collaboration with renowned Danish architect David Thulstrup, Penumbra is a striking centerpiece crafted from polished stainless steel and available in three sizes. The piece is defined by a careful juxtaposition of shapes, combining the oval center with a rectangular outline. Penumbra is expertly inspired by the different design movements that Georg Jensen has joined over the last century, from Art Nouveau to Functionalism. The name of the object, which means space of partial illumination, recalls the play of light created through contrasting shapes.


Penumbra can be used alone as a stunning centerpiece, but can also be used as a tray for fruit and other foods.


MEET THE DESIGNER

David Thulstrup

Award-winning Danish architect and designer David Thulstrup founded his eponymous studio in 2009. Through a refined and holistic approach to architecture, interiors and product design, it combines its Scandinavian heritage with a modern design language.


David holds a Masters in Interior Architecture from the Danish Design School, is an MAA Architect and a member of the Danish Association of Architects. Before founding the firm in 2009, David worked on residential, commercial and institutional projects for Jean Nouvel in Paris and on luxury retail projects for Peter Marino in New York. Today he collaborates with a culturally diverse team of architects, interior designers, product designers and materials experts, in a naturally lit industrial space in Amager, Copenhagen.
