With a bottle this stunning, you'd think if you rubbed it the right way, Barbara Eden would come out in a glorious puff of smoke. This gorgeous carnival glass decanter is from the Daisy and Button line from Imperial Glass-Ohio. This particular pattern was one of their earliest, introduced in 1910 and continued to be manufactured til around 1930. So though this is truly a depression era antique, it's serving some major mid century modern vibes.
This piece was color coded as Marigold, and rightfully so, as marigolds come in rich shades of golden yellow, vibrant orange, and warm red. When the light hits this decanter, it throws all of those colors, which appear almost ombre in effect. It's made from sturdy, thick pressed glass.
A piece like this can definitely be tracked down. But one that actively maintains its original iridescent lustre and color vibrancy, as well as the stopper it was made with...that's a bit of a rarity, and shows that this particular item was carefully cared for. The iridescence can be easily damaged if handled otherwise, so handwashing with gentle soap and a soft cloth is definitely recommended.
* We do examine each vintage piece very carefully before listing. So no matter how incredible a piece is, and even if it's teeny tiny, a flaw is still a flaw. And we're firm believers in full and total disclosure. Thusly, please be advised of the following:
The inner edge of the stopper does show some signs of wear. Though it appears to be chipped, it's not particularly sharp edged. We say this because we ran bare fingers over it. Also worth noting: what appears to be a very faint, thin line, which can be viewed in the provided images. We do not believe it to be a crack, per se, as it's smooth to the touch, light doesn't pass through it, and water doesn't pass through it when cleaned and tested. It may a flaw that can occur when glass is pressed, especially 80+ years ago. This, of course, is of our opinion, and should be taken as such. A close up image has been included in this listing to indicate the aforementioned flaws, and we encourage you to zoom in and further examine that of which we speak. If you'd like additional pictures, please let us know, and we'd be happy to accommodate requests. This is all general wear and tear from use, and our initial statement regarding care still stands, as its clearly been lovingly maintained and handwashed. Again, considering the age of this piece. Apart from that, this is in phenomenal condition, be it vintage, antique, or otherwise, and is priced accordingly.
It measures around 10.5" tall with the stopper in place, and approx 5" across the bottom. And apart from the aforementioned flaw, is free of cracks, scratches, chips, peeling, fading, discoloration, weird smells, or haunting entities, and holds water without leaking.
Again, please review all details and images carefully and thoroughly, as this piece is one of a kind, and the one pictured is the exact item you'll receive. Thanks so much for looking
