About the artist

Geoffrey Chatten was born in Norfolk in 1938. He started painting oils in the 1960's and became professional in the 1980's. With no formal painting instruction, Geoffrey developed an impressionistic technique all of his own. He produces oil paintings of the UK, specifically beautiful landscapes and seascapes from the Norfolk and Suffolk countryside.

The personal nature of his paintings capture the essence, feeling and atmosphere of his chosen subject. As well as landscape and seascapes Geoffrey also products still life works, specifically flowers such as bluebells, iris, tulips and daffodils. Geoffrey has a wonderful collection of vases to use in his paintings and compliment the flowers he chooses to paint. Geoffrey lives for his painting and when he begins a painting it take him over completely until it is complete.

Geoffrey always starts every piece with a series of sketches and his studio is packed with scores of sketchbooks, every room in his house has been taken over by his passion. Geoffrey became a full member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1995 and is a member of the Royal British Artists Society.
