OIGEN Nambu Tetsubin (1L) – Tortoise Shell Motif

This tetsubin is crafted from authentic Nambu Tekki (ironware), originating from Ōshū City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Renowned for its uniform thickness, Nambu ironware offers excellent heat conductivity and retention, making it ideal for boiling water. Water boiled in an iron kettle absorbs trace amounts of iron, resulting in a milder, richer flavor.

In addition to its practical function, the tetsubin's elegant form makes it a striking piece of interior decor. This model by OIGEN, a historic foundry established in 1852, is traditionally fired to create a natural rust-resistant finish. The interior is unglazed and uncoated, allowing mineral-rich stains to develop over time—a feature cherished by enthusiasts as part of the kettle’s aging and personal character.

This 1-liter model is adorned with a tortoise shell pattern, symbolizing good fortune and longevity in Japanese culture. Its collapsible handle enhances ease of storage, while its balanced size makes it easy to handle for both men and women.
