The supercar boom hit Japan in the late 1970s. The leading player in this boom was the Countach, released by Italian Lamborghini in 1974.

Its wedge-shaped, ultra-futuristic design, scissor doors that flip up vertically, retractable headlights that pop up when turned on, and a V12 engine mounted in the center of the body that gave it a top speed of 300km/h, literally amazed car enthusiasts around the world.

Hot Wheels has chosen the QV motif as a mature version of this car, with an engine enlarged to 5.2 liters and a four-valve system (QV stands for Quattro Valvole).

The Lancia Stratos Zero is a one-off concept study unveiled at the Turin Motor Show in Italy in 1970.

This car is different from the Stratos that was later released as a mass-produced car, and the design was done by Bertone, the same company that designed the Countach, which is why this pairing was made possible.
