Kenny Sailors is an important figure in basketball history.  A three time All-American at Wyoming in the 1940s, he brought the jump shot in its current form into a game where previously shooting was done flat footed and usually two handed.  A picture of Sailors jump shooting in a game at Madison Square Garden in 1946 is credited with spreading the jump shot coast to coast.  Sailors had a pro career as well, but it is his effect on the game with his jump shooting style that has cemented his place in basketball history.  I see online his autograph is priced significantly and more than I am listing it for here.  An autograph any basketball collector should have.
